"What is Yoga Therapy?" As a yoga educator and therapist-in-training, I spend a lot of time defining Yoga Therapy, and how it differs from general yoga classes offered in studios.
As a guest on Om My Goodness, I was asked some very good questions by co-hosts Sophia and Darren, whose dialogues center on the practical applications of yogic philosophy for every day life. We talk a lot about people experiencing illness or imbalance as divine beings, not damaged goods, and how the role of the Yoga Therapist is to add to that which is well within the individual.
We imagine what the world would be like if everyone knew the self-healing tools of yoga, and used them to improve their lives and health. I explain how, "in an odd way, we're trying to put ourselves out of business" as Yoga Therapists, "but we'll stay busy for a long time doing that."
Learn more about my approach as a Yoga Therapist, and what I've come to understand thus far about our field, which aims to bridge Healthcare and Yoga. I've already leaned so much more since recording this, and I look forward to being a guest on Om My Goodness again!
